Basmati PAK

This Basmati variety was released in 1968 for cultivation. Its sowing time is 1st June to 25th June. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and matures in 125 days. Its plant height 170 cm and grain length 7.45 mm. Its yield potential is 30 mound/acre.

Basmati 198

This Basmati variety was released in 1972 for cultivation. Its sowing time is 1st June to 25th June. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and matures in 130 days. Its plant height 135 cm and grain length 6.50 mm. Its yield potential is 45 mound/acre.

Basmati 385

This variety was introduced for general cultivation in 1985. Among the Basmati varieties, it an early sowing variety and has high yield per acre. Being early sown variety, wheat can be cultivated on time after its harvesting and thus better yield of wheat can be obtained. The productivity of Basmati 385 is 55 mounds per acre.

SUPER basmati

It is a very good quality Basmati variety. It was introduced in 1996. This variety is now very popular among growers. Its rice is the most expensive in the market. For this reason, it gives more profit than all other varieties. Its productivity is 65 mounds per acre.

Basmati 2000

This variety was also introduced by Rice Research Institute Kala Shah Kaku in 2000. This variety is very popular in Okara, Dipalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and DG Khan areas. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and sown from 1st June to 25th June. It gets matured in 115 days and produces 60 mounds/acre yield. Its plant height is 135 cm and grain length is 7.68 mm.

Basmati 515

It which was approved by Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku for general cultivation in 2011. Its rice is taller than Super Basmati, better for cooking and higher in yield. This variety matures in 4-5 days earlier than Super Basmati. Its productivity is 70 mounds per acre. Its plant height is 130 cm and grain length is 7.56 mm.

Kainat Basmati (PK 1121)

This variety was approved for general cultivation in 2013 by the rice research institute Kalashah. It is famous for its very long grain with an average length of 8.2 mm. It is the best variety for making parboiled rice. It grows only in Punjab region of Pakistan and India. Its productivity is 60 mounds per acre. Par boiled rice is in high demand in the international markets, so the price in this type of market is relatively high.

PK 386

This variety was approved by Rice Research Institute Kala Shah for general cultivation in 2014. It is a high yielding per acre variety with tall and fine rice. Due to early ripening compared to Basmati varieties, wheat can be harvested on time and thus better yield of wheat can be obtained. The productivity of Basmati 386 is 70 mounds per acre.

Kisaan Basmati

This variety of Basmati which has been approved by Rice Research Institute in 2016 for cultivation. Its rice is longer than Kainat Basmati and excellent for cooking. Its harvest period is 95 days. This variety is also used for making parboiled rice. Late sowing is recommended to get its good quality. The length of his rice after cooking is 16.6 mm.

Punjab basmati

This variety of Basmati was approved by the Rice Research Institute in 2016. Its yield is more than Super Basmati. Its crop duration is 105 days and plant height is also less than Super Basmati due to which it does not lodge. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and sown from 1st June to 25th June. It gets matured in 105 days and produces 65 mounds/acre yield. Its plant height is 107 cm and grain length is 7.60 mm

Super Basmati 2019

Super Basmati 2019 developed by Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku approved for general cultivation in 52nd meeting of Punjab Seed Council. Paddy yield is 12% and 19% higher than Super Basmati and Basmati 515 respectively. Average grain length (7.58 mm), head rice recovery (54%) and cooked grain length (15 mm) are also better than Super Basmati (7.43 mm, 51% and 14.2 mm respectively).

Super Gold

Super Gold developed by Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku approved for general cultivation in 52nd meeting of Punjab Seed Council in the year 2019. It has Bacterial Leaf Blight resistant gene (Xa21) which provides resistance against this disease. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and sown from 1st June to 25th June. It gets matured in 105 days and produces 70 mounds/acre yield. The paddy yield is 12% and 10% higher as compared to Super Basmati and Basmati 515, respectively. Its plant height is 110 cm and grain length is 7.50 mm.

PK 2021 aromatic

This Basmati variety was released in 2021 for cultivation. Its sowing time is 1st June to 25th June. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and matures in 103 days. Its plant height is 132 cm and grain length 8.26 mm. Its yield potential is 70 mound/acre.

Sona Super basmati

This Basmati variety was released in 2023 for cultivation by Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku. Sona Super Basmati is the longest ever basmati grain measuring 10 mm. Its sowing time is 1st June to 25th June. It is grown in all areas of Punjab and is a high yielding variety.

vital super Basmati

This variety was released for cultivation by Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku. It is the first zinc and iron fortified rice ever produced in Pakistan. It contains 26 ppm zinc and 13 ppm iron in milled rice grains. Its sowing time is 1st June to 25th June and is grown in all areas of Punjab.
